Horatio’s Garden
Horatio’s Garden South West at the Duke of Cornwall Spinal Treatment Centre at Salisbury District Hospital.
Horatio’s Garden provides a place of escape for patients facing long, difficult stays after spinal injury. WGT donates annual funding towards garden therapy.
The popular garden therapy sessions help patients practice movements linked to hand dexterity and fine motor skills, enhancing their rehabilitation. Garden therapy shows patients that many practical tasks are possible with their new level of mobility, perhaps with modified tools. Sessions include activities such as sowing seeds, potting up seedlings, transplanting larger plants, watering, deadheading, floral arrangements, creating flourishing planters of colourful flowers and harvesting fruit or vegetables.
“We are so grateful for your generous donation to Horatio’s Garden South West, helping to positively impact the mental health, wellbeing and rehabilitation of patients with spinal injuries.”
“I’ve potted up and watered, and it’s helped me; helped me come to terms with my condition”
